Artists Notes

1. "What Turns You On", written and performed by Katie Thompson. 

This is the very first time I performed this song.  I told the story of how dating in Los Angeles is a joke and was promptly met -afterwards with dating offers galore.  All of which were with crazy people who felt sorry for me.  That's right.  Crazy people felt sorry for me.

2. "Eternal Flame", written by Susanna Hoffs, Billy Steinberg & Tom Kelly, performed by Katie Thompson. 

This song was the epitome of my Junior-High experience, complete with my first "I like you, do you like me?  Check the box" -notes.  You gotta' love The Bangles.

3. "Birthday", written and performed by Katie Thompson. 

You know the drill.  I'm hot, and he wouldn't give me any lovin'.

4. "I Only Want to Be Held", written and performed by Katie Thompson.

I actually wrote this song before "Why Aren't You Holding Me, Now" (What I've Done Right 2001) when a guy I was dating wanted a little too much of me.  I know... it's a delicate balance: "Love me, devour me, and leave me alone".

I'm sure Tori hates the way I do this song, but she's too busy not returning my phone calls, so I don't care.

Me:  "What?"

Him:  "How are you?"

Me:  "Uh... Fine.  You?"

Him:  "You don't sound fine."

Me:  "Oh really... what do I sound like?  Scooby Doo? James Earl Jones?  Kathleen Turner?  People say I sound like Kathleen Turner."

Him:  "Well, now you sound sarcastic."

Me:  "I do?  Well that's good, 'cause YOU SOUND LIKE AN ASSHOLE!"

I wrote this when one of my friends started dating this guy, then got pregnant, married, and a luxury sports car.  In that order.  I thought "I can do that!"  So I wrote the song, got inspired, married, divorced, and screwed.  In that order.

I really like singing this song live, it always reminds everyone of that time they didn't want to be alone, and then they give me all the credit for making them feel better.

Yes, I do.  I have no unattractive fans.

Seriously, get yourself a body-pillow and be done with it.

Yes, I did clean my kitchen 3 times a day, sleep- or rather lay -for 5 hours, and write furiously, only to finish the 9^th verse- 3^rd chorus -in 3 colors of ink, sit down to play this song, and laugh uproariously at my own pathetic evil genius.

It's what my Mom always said when I didn't get what I wanted.  At which point I would find a way to get what I wanted.

I love to just... breathe this song in.  How artsy-fartsy is that?

Just out of a marriage from hell, I found this song in my roommate's music, and immediately played it every day for a year much to my roommate's, and neighbors exhaustion.  HEY!  I WAS EXHAUSTED TOO!

Three o'clock in the morning, people are sleeping, and all I can think is:  "Love, love, love" and not The Beatles kind.

This is the Katie messes around in the studio trying to get a better recording, and does a couple takes- only to choose the first one -version.

 This is also the Katie screws around in the studio when she's too tired so it ends up sounding okay, but way too slow -version.

20.  This CD was made by pushing record at the sound booth in whatever theater, club, coffee-shop or bar I was performing at in 2005.  So thank you... all of you.  For buying a ticket, or a door charge, or the drinks you only get because of the minimum--- just to see me perform.  For buying a CD, or an mp3, hell... even if you burnt your favorite song(s) and shared it with your friend.  THANK YOU.
